Zoloft is a brand name drug known fairly
well by name across the country. Most people know a friend or family member who
is taking Zoloft drug recall lawsuit
for depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder,
general anxiety disorder, or another related condition. Some people may be
aware that Zoloft
birth defect lawsuit can be significant in helping patients overcome their
psychological condition. So why do Zoloft lawsuits keep piling up in the
courts?
Many people are familiar with the
widely-publicized warnings that Zoloft could increase the chances of suicide or
suicidal thoughts in patients. Most of the patients who are affected by Zoloft lawsuit suicide are children,
young adults, and teenagers.
Doctors have been warned to prescribe Zoloft to these age groups with caution. However, there are still a number of grieving families left behind by Zoloft suicide victims. Another side effect that is publicized a bit less is the potential for Zoloft birth defects. Expecting mothers who take Zoloft, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy, are much more likely to give birth to a baby with a serious birth defect. Heart conditions, abdominal conditions, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, omphalocele, anencephaly, and other birth defects have all been reported in greater number in children of women who took Zoloft while pregnant. Some of these conditions can be fatal, but all of them leave families struggling to deal with medical bills and caring for a sick child. Zoloft birth defects are certainly grounds for a Zoloft lawsuit, as hopefully the family will be able to win some damages that can help cover medical costs that would otherwise be impossible to afford.

A new study has things once again looking grim for Zoloft. Although a known side effect of many SSRIs like Zoloft is bleeding, there have been no warnings about whether or not a patient can combine an SSRI with a blood thinner. It turns out that patients are 42 percent more likely, according to a recent study, to experience bleeding problems—including gastrointestinal bleeding—when they are taking both an SSRI and a blood thinner as opposed to one or the other. This could also be a problem for Zoloft patients who are expecting mothers. Bleeding problems can be extremely serious when it comes to pregnant women.
